The Gathering
A Weekly Forum for Sharing and Deepening our Spiritual Journeys
Join us on Zoom: Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 pm
The Gathering (formerly called “Religious Exploration”) is a weekly discussion group where we share our responses to readings, videos, or presentations. We sometimes share practices such as walking a labyrinth, doing guided meditations, or expressing a religious experience through art. At the Gathering, we are free to express our beliefs and doubts, ask questions about faith, and listen to each other’s stories. In this safe and supportive environment, we hope to deepen each other’s search for a meaningful, spiritual life.
Over the years, our readings and videos have featured Thomas Merton, Marcus Borg, Joan Chittister, Richard Rohr, John Shelby Spong, Helen Prejean, John Dominic Crosson, Bishop Michael Curry, Barbara Crafton, Bart Ehrman, N.T. Wright, Barbara Brown Taylor, Thich Nhat Hanh, Walter Brueggemann, and many others. We have also had guest speakers from other faith traditions including Buddhists, Muslims, Jews, Quakers, Unitarians, and Native American spiritualists.
Currently our discussion topics alternate by the week between discussion of the lectionary scripture readings for the following Sunday (Old Testament, Psalm, Epistle, and Gospel) and discussion of a short reading that evokes spiritual questions. To receive each week’s readings via email and to get the Zoom link for the Gathering session, please contact the church office.
No matter where you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome to join us in this safe, supportive, open-minded, and open-hearted place.
Men’s Group
A Monthly Group for Sharing Thoughts and Feelings on a Wide Range of Topics
Join us on Zoom: First Saturday of each month 10:00am-12:00 pm
All those in the parish who identify as male are warmly welcomed to attend this gathering where a wide range of subjects is explored over the year. The leadership for each session is shared among the group with the leader selecting the topic for the session. We are a fun group who have a great time sharing thoughts and feelings about our spirituality, manhood, the Church, and a lot of other interesting topics. Among the many gifts of this group is the age range represented. The conversations are rich and life experiences are shared.
Check the Calendar to see where the next meeting will take place or contact the church office for more information. Snacks and coffee are provided.
