Outreach Ideas, And Ways You Might Like To Be Involved

In the outreach report that came out with the reports for the annual meeting, the activities that the outreach committee have been involved with were listed. (See below activities, in bullets) This is a call for everyone in the parish to think about where you would like the outreach money to go.  Please let us know if you have ideas of other ways we can become involved on island and wider life. Are there things you are concerned about where we as a parish could become more active?

  • As the Wednesday night dinners and brown bag dinners have been discontinued, it has been decided that grocery receipt money that went to these programs will be directed to the food bank. A substantial donation was made at Thanksgiving and will be ongoing.
  • Tom Land is our new representative to IFCH and may be a new member of this committee. You will be hearing more from him about our participation in the dinners that IFCH is restarting.
  • We again provided financial aid to a group of young swimmers at the Vashon Park District summer swimming program.
  • We contributed 39 bilingual (Spanish-English) books to the Little Multicultural Library which resides at Chautauqua Elementary School.
  • We are continuing to put together VART household kits and delivering them to the Afghan Refugee Center run by the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia.
  • Along with this, some members are engaging with ESL tutoring with some of the refugees.
  • We presented a webinar on prison sentencing reform that was attended by many in our church and other interested islanders. Work on this continues as we explore ways to reach out to our legislators.
